1. Overview of the ESD programme
Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) at Lycée Albert Einstein is part of a broad, cross-curricular approach aimed at giving students the skills to understand the complexity of today's world. Rather than staying at the level of speeches, the programme connects subject teaching to the major societal and environmental challenges set out in international and national frameworks.
At Lycée Albert Einstein, in line with government directives, we have launched, and will continue to develop, ESD actions, drawing on the reference resources available on Éduscol - Education for Sustainable Development (French Ministry of Education), as well as on the national ESD skills framework, which is built around four key areas: grasping complexity, exercising critical thinking, adopting responsible behaviour, and acting individually and collectively. This translates into student civic engagement, a central role for eco-delegates, and concrete changes in everyday school practices.

Personal note: Long distant from institutional environmentalism, he eventually decided it was better to do his part than to comment on it. Hence an approach with few speeches, focused on concrete action with students.
3. Showcase of actions
Already done
- E3D label, level 2, achieved at the end of the 2025-26 school year (led by Mme Roux, deputy head);
- 40 elected eco-delegates, meeting at three general assemblies over the year;
- Clean Up Day (Initiatives Océanes) together with middle schools in Bagnols-sur-Cèze;
- Participation in the regional eco-delegates congress in Nîmes;
- Partnership with Amnesty International (meeting at the school library, screening of Bigger Than Us);
- Involvement in the "Phone-free breaks" working group;
- Full annual report for 2025-26 (French only), written by Mme Bounila.
In progress
- Finishing and planting the aromatic herb beds;
- Gradual rollout of the greening plan (first batch of benches already installed);
- Renewal of Clean Up Day;
- Renewal of the Amnesty International partnership;
- Organising the Eco-Delegates' Day in the first term.
Coming up
- Specific actions to promote and give visibility to the eco-delegate role;
- Launch of an eco-delegates' club during the lunch break;
- European exchange on climate change (January 2027) with our Luxembourgish, Greek and Turkish partners;
- Planning of the 2027-28 Erasmus+ student trip with the eco-delegates;
- New initiatives proposed, discussed and led directly by the eco-delegates.

As with any school action, the official route is the internal "fiche action" form, available from the pedagogy office or internal communication channels, submitted to the school leadership for approval (budget, staff hours, schedule).
